Avenger Menkyo Dantai Kenshou Membership
Dantai membership is free of charge and opened to all Avengers 1st
DAN or higher. Members are encouraged to closely follow the Dantai
Kenshou with integrity and good spirit. Administrative support of
the Dantai is best achieved when members inform the Dantai about rank
promotion concerns in an expeditious manner. The Avenger Menkyo Dantai
receives no fees for it’s supportive service to the schools,
clubs, and organizations associated from within.
Structure & Governance
The Avenger Menkyo Dantai is governed by a three-person committee
rank licensing committee, whose duties are to insure internal rank
promotion standards are adhered to.

AVENGERS MENKYO DANTAI
A SEMPAI is an Assistant Karate Instructor.
Usually refers to a Karate Instructor with 1st Dan status. Only a
SENSEI or above can recommend appointment and only a SHIHAN can approve.
A SENSEI is a Karate Instructor.
Usually refers to an Instructor with 2nd or 3rd Dan status. It is
the first licensed formal teaching rank. In our system he or she is
awarded this status when receiving 2nd or 3rd Dan. Requirement - A
SHIHAN recommends and only a Renshi or above can approve appointment.
A SHIHAN is an intermediate or advanced SENSEI. SHIHAN
is a "Supervisor of Sensei's" who has mastered
himself." It is the second licensed formal teaching rank. In
our system he or she is awarded this status when receiving the 4th
or 5th blackbelt level. Requirement - A RENSHI recommends and only
a KYOSHI or above can approve appointment.
RENSHI often refers to an Executive Advanced
Instructor. It is the third formal teaching rank. Renshi
means "Executive SENSEI" who has mastered himself."
It is the third formal teaching rank. It is awarded around the 6th
degree godan or 7th degree rokudan black belt level. Requirement -
A KYOSHI recommends and only a HANSHI can approve appointment.
KYOSHI refers to a “Chief Executive
SENSEI”. It is the fourth licensed formal teaching
rank. This title is usually awarded to one who has achieved a rank
of 8th or 9th degree black belt nanadan or hachidan. KYOSHI are typically
regarded as those who have distinguished themselves as expert teachers
or instructors. Only a Hanshi can approve appointment.
6 . HANSHI or sometimes refers to the “Honorable
Chief Executive of SENSEI”. It is the fifth and final
formal teaching rank. This title is usually conferred at the 10th dan (jyudan) ranking, by the senior leader or leadership of
the organization. This title is given to the most senior licensed
Sensei who is distinguished as the Grandmaster (Hanshi Hawkins).
